If you went to Mass last Saturday 5:30pm (April 22nd), you heard the St. Florian Choir providing the music for Mass. The St. Florian choir is open to men, women, boys, and girls of all ages, and we are always looking for new members! The choir involves a low time commitment, but a willingness to rehearse diligently and strive to become a really fine choir!
The choir was started in spring of 2022, and since then, we have sung for the 5:30 Saturday Mass 4 times, the 10:30 Sunday Mass once, and for 1 Holy Day Mass. We also provided the music for the Advent Penance Service. So far, we have 14 members, but since not everyone can be available all the time, we would be overjoyed to welcome more members.
The group focuses on more traditional music, but we also enjoy working up hymns in 4 part harmony (which takes a lot of work, but is very fun!) Some of our members were new to singing in a group when they joined, but I am so proud of our immense progress since starting out.
We have been rehearsing on Saturday afternoons in the St. Florian House (formerly the barbershop next to church), but we sometimes rehearse on weeknights, and we design our rehearsal schedule to meet the needs of our members. If you are interested in joining, or want more information, you can contact Gemma in the Parish Office, or you can email her at stflorianoflaramie.org.
